Swingkatten offers social dancing around the year in many different dance styles. See what suits you and come and dance with us!
Cat's Corner
Swingkatten’s regular dance evenings for lindy hop on Tuesday evenings at 19.30-21.30 at Drabanten, Bangårdsgatan 13. The association’s own DJs play swing music that is suitable for lindy hop. Sometimes a workshop or opportunity is arranged to try one of Swingkatten’s dances at 18.30-19.30.
It is much appreciated if you as a visitor can help out with opening or closing once in a while. Keep an eye on our Facebook page for more details on what’s happening and how you can help!
Cat´s corner is free to join, it is part of the membership. Those who are not members are welcome to join for free a few times, but we ask regular visitors to become a member.
During the summer months, the park dance (Parkdans) takes over on Tuesday evenings.

Swing Evenings
Swingkatten’s even more festive dance nights with live bands usually on Saturday nights! Lindy hop is in focus, but there is often also some music for other dance styles found at Swingkatten. Dance evenings usually open at 18 for a Lindy Hop taster and the live music starts from 19. The evening ends at 22. The entrance fee is SEK 100 for members and SEK 200 for non-members.
The swing evenings are possible because you as a member and visitor are helping out. You can sign up to, for example, run the café, bake a cake, collect the entrance fee, or help to clean up. In exchange you get free entrance! Sign up in the document shared on Swingkatten’s Facebook page.

Shake, Rattle & Roll
Uppsala’s most swinging club!? Shake, Rattle and Roll is Swingkatten’s social dance night where music is mainly played for the dance style Boogie Woogie. You do not have to know Boogie Woogie to join in and dance.
At the beginning of each semester, an hour of try-out is usually arranged for anyone who wants to learn the basics. Keep an eye on the calendar or on the page “Boogie Woogie i Uppsala” on Facebook.
Admission is free and during the dance evening you can buy fika for only 20 SEK. Welcome!
Bal'n'Blues
At Bal’n’Blues we have two dancefloors to dance both Blues and Balboa to DJs from across Swingkatten. Events are held at the cozy venues of Valegårdens close to the central station (Alsikegatan 6). Usually, there is a taster session at 19.00 in one or both of the dances, followed by social dancing 20.00 to 23.30. Entrance is free and during the evening there will be fika which you can buy fika at low cost. Dates are announced on our Facebook page and our website.
Sometimes there are even Blues workshops in the afternoon on those days. You can find more information on those courses and can register for those in the “Classes” tab.

Park Dance
Swingkatten offers outside dancing during the summer months of June, July and August at the dance pavilion in the city park (near Parksnäckan). On Tuesday evenings at 19-21.30, the association’s own DJ’s music is suitable for lindy hop. From time to time, live bands can appear to brighten the dance evenings!
It is also usually packed with opportunities to try different dances that Swingkatten has and workshops at 6 pm on Tuesdays.
Other dance styles within the association, such as Boogie Woogie and Blues dance, also appear from time to time at other times during the summers on the dance floor in the city park. Keep an eye on our website and Swingkatten’s Facebook page for what’s happening!
The park dance is free – even when there are bands performing! Sometimes when there are events at Parksnäckan, the dance moves to a jetty by the Fyrisån river near Eddaspången.
